Self Employed Loans

If you wish to borrow money from a lender you need to prove that you will be able to keep up the repayments and are financially sound. This is hard if you are self employed or on a short term contract. Mainstream lenders will need to see 3 years auditored accounts that show your business has done well in that period of time. You should have no problems borrowing money from most lenders if everything is in order. Full time employed people are of less risk to lenders. Lenders look at it this way, self employed people have to chase around after payments and invoices and if working on short term contract what will happen when it finishes, will they be able to get a new contract. They want to believe that financially you will make payments throughout the loan term without forseen difficulties.

Even with 3 years worth of accounts to show a lender, your account is probably smaller than that declared for income tax purposes. A good accountant will have been able to manage your finances so that they work better for you. Downplaying your profits when a lender looks at your accounts could mean that their assessment of how much you can borrow becomes based on an income that doesn’t hurt your ability to pay. There is a flexible lender to be found out there so you should not give up just because you do not have excellent accounts to show a potential lender. If the accounts are not there to show as proof of earnings, there are other ways to get a loan and self certification may be the answer for you.
